I called and spoke with Graham, and he was very friendly. He works from his home and invited me to come by any time before 4:30 so he could have a look at my antique clock. I live in Thornton, and he's in Aurora, so this was a 1 hour drive for me, but there aren't too many horologists in town so I made the trek down there and arrived at about 3:00 with my clock, which I had to carefully package for the trip. He wasn't home when I arrived, and pulled up a few minutes later. He then had me wait outside "just for 5 minutes" (it was 95 degrees) while he dealt with a contractor who was there. 20 minutes later, he came out and told me I'd need to come back. He was clearly in some kind of dispute with his contractor, which I totally understand - life happens, especially when you work from your home. I left and went to a nearby Starbucks, and left him a message saying since I live an hour away, I would love to not waste the trip, and asked if he could see me once he was done with the contractor. I waited about an hour and I never heard back from him in any format - not even a call to apologize for the inconvenience. Three and a half total hours later, after sitting in rush hour traffic on the way back home and putting 100 miles on my car, I have nothing to show for the trip, not even an apology. I have no idea how good he is at fixing clocks, since I never got the opportunity to see, but I can't imagine more unprofessional behavior. I would have expected at least the courtesy of a phone call.
