MANISTEE COUNTY, MI – Six Colorado residents will pay $1,100 each after they pleaded guilty to taking fish from the Manistee River via an illegal method. According to the Department of Natural Resources, the men were cited near the Tippy Dam in October 2022 after conservation officers caught the group illegally fishing. The officers also found that the group did not have valid fishing licenses, were using illegal tackle and had taken salmon by illegal methods. The DNR later donated more than 460 pounds of fresh fish to Manistee County families in need.
